| CONDITION: 4.0 liter engine. No start No spark or injector pulse.
TEST: Test for proper ASD relay operation to provide voltage to the coil and injectors. REPAIR: The coil may short internally on this vehicle and blow fuse #18 in the power distribution box. Test the coil. The coil wiring on this vehicle is slightly different than earlier years. CAUTION: There is a fuse between the ASD relay output wire and the positive side of the coil. Technicians testing fuses overlook the circuit because neither side of the fuse has current with just the ignition key on. The ASD relay is not operational to power the fuse unless your cranking the engine or for a split second when the key is cycled on. PCM's have been mistakenly installed for this reason. JR King |
